Broadband Infraco has secured access to telecoms infrastructure spanning more than 12,000 kms across the country connecting the major centres. This long distance network leverages the capabilities of Transnet and Eskom, and is carried along the routes of power lines and railway lines across the country.
The Broadband Infraco network is predominantly implemented on Eskom power lines and in the Transnet Freight Rail servitudes. Most other long distance networks are implemented in the road and pavement infrastructure. This implies that the Broadband Infraco long distance network is not exposed to the same risks that road based networks are exposed to such as civil disturbances, consequently any customer choosing to use the Broadband Infraco network can be assured of a differentiating network risk profile to any alternative in the market.
The Broadband Infraco core network is fast evolving to a highly reliable, remotely configurable and low latency (delay) network based on new generation Dense Wave-Division Multiplexed (DWDM) optical systems all managed and controlled from a secure and centralised Network Operations Centre (NOC).
There are broadly two ways one can get access to the Broadband Infraco long distance network.
The first option is to interconnect directly to the Broadband Infraco network at one of the Open Access Points-Of-Presence (POP’s) or to get on via one of the many metro access partners who have wide coverage in many metro areas of South Africa. For more information on this please contact the Broadband Infraco Sales office.
Broadband Infraco makes its ports and bandwidth avalible at Open-Access Points of Presence around the country. The list of sites where Broadband Infraco services can be accessed is constantly growing; please contact our call centre or sales office for the latest sites or to request more information on any particular area.
